Through A Cold Spring – April & May 2015

June 7, 2015 by Tree Nursery Volunteers

The End of May also marked the end of the projects of Sophie and Javier who have been with us for the past six months. On Friday last we welcomed our new arrival Nerea, from Spain.

Sophie’s Last Day. From left to right: Javier (EVS), Pascal (Project Leader), Ben (YES), Sissy (Mentor), Sophie (EVS), Ivan (Volunteer, retired), Ruth (Volunteer, retired), Pete (Volunteer), Jon (EVS)

To read all about Sophie’s EVS with the TCV Tree Nursery read her blog Frivillig i Bangor, Nordirland.

Javier, Spain:

“It’s been an interesting month (April), we had the the Mid-term training in the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum. There we met other volunteers and we could share our opinions and goals for the future, also we had time to have some fun, and we dressed up like people in the old time and took a picture of us together.
We saw an eclipse while we were working in the tree nursery, nobody knew nothing about that so it was a weird moment when the sky started to be dark (Pascal started to run in circles and cry). Now the Tree Nursery is full of trees and we’ve started weeding.
My friends came to visit me over Easter and we had good moments visiting Northern Ireland, we visited Belfast, Castlerock and other cities, and we did the Causeway Coastal Route by car.”

A picture of our trip to Dublin, we really had a great time.
On a small trip to Bushmills, this picture shows the beautiful coast line.

We received some appreciation of our work with this fine certificate as part of the Volunteer’s Week.

I was on a walk when I found this little bit Danish national treasure.
We spent a Sunday at the Clandeboye Estate Open day and made badges like these for the children.
