The Beginning of 2015 – A New Arrival

April 14, 2015 by Tree Nursery Volunteers

It has been a while since the last post but we have been busy; making up orders, lining out trees, sowing seeds, basically getting the nursery ready for a new season. We also had a new arrival, Jon from Denmark and our Portuguese wonder woman Dulce has finished her EVS and started a new adventure.

Javier, Spain:
“It’s been a while since the last time I wrote, a lot of things happened… we have a new volunteer now, Jon from Denmark. We’ve helped in the construction of two new polytunnels, and we’ve planted Rowan, Hawthorn, Birch, Hazel, Wild Cherry and Oaks to be prepared for the next season. Now almost all the polytunnels are ready and we are concentrating on making beds for the trees outside We are still planting so that all of North Ireland will be full of trees!!!
In my free time I am exploring North Ireland, and I’ve visited White Head, Bushmills, Crawfordsburn Park, Belfast Castle… and I’m preparing myself to run the Belfast Marathon, despite all this I have time to enjoy the interested live music that normally you can find in all the Pubs in Bangor and Belfast.”

Jon, Denmark:

This is one of the new beds we are making in the brand new polytunnels.

This is me at my new, exciting work.

Here we see some beds freshly planted with the Hazel seed.

Sophie, Denmark:

Sophie has her own blog Frivillig i Bangor. It’s in Danish but you can change the language at the right side by clicking the Translate button.
