As I draw near to the end of my traineeship I have been as busy as ever! Another highlight of this year has to be our group trip to Edinburgh, to run our ‘TCV Natural Talent Roadshow’ workshops showing off all that we have been doing.
We were in the amazing setting of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in the John Hope Gateway building. We had a day of talks, workshops and lovely food! It was great seeing everyone’s projects come together.
Whilst up in Edinburgh I had the fortune of a tour around The National Museum of Scotland’s natural history store. This was an amazing afternoon, it was great to compare specimens they have in their collections to the specimens I have explored in the Liverpool World Museum. I was extremely excited by the marine creatures I found!
It has been nearly a year (already!?) since I became a part of the TCV Natural Talent team, and I have loved every second of it! I cannot believe I am in my last week before going on to work for RSPB Merseyside.
I am extremely excited to begin my new adventure but will miss everything about this year and being the Merseyside Mudflats Trainee.
In just under a year I have;
- Been a part of nearly 40 different events, with The Wildlife Trust, World Museum and TCV
- Interacted with over 2,000 people!!
- Had training in; Marine microbiology, Marine mammals and birds, Marine Non Native Invasive species, Conchology, Seabird counting and monitoring and my Emergency First Aid (to name just a few)
- Met Iolo Williams!
- Attended the Coastal Futures Conference 2018…
and spent countless amazing days exploring the beautiful Merseyside Coastline!
I would like to thank TCV, The Wildlife Trust, Liverpool World Museum and Esmee Fairbairn for every opportunity they have enabled me to have. I will keep in contact and support these organisations in any way I can for the rest of my conservation career!

You won’t regret it and you will become part of an amazing team doing great work for our planet!
Goodbye for now and thank you!
