The year is nearly out, in the nursery we have started to dig up trees, grade and bundle them. The last seeds are being stratified and the Volunteers are looking forward to our new arrivals on 07.12.14.
Dulce:
November was a very calm month, after the rush of seed collection. With winter coming the main tasks we have are digging trees, grading them and heeling in.
And with empty beds start the preparation for the new sowing season. For example the soil is only ready for sowing, when it has been turned and completely cleansed of roots and weeds and finally leveled.
However during this month I had the opportunity to work a day with the Conservation Action Team, and help them in one of their activities. Work in the Tree Nursery is fun but it’s always good to leave for a little bit and do different things.
With my EVS almost at an end it is time for reflections and thoughts, and planning for my future.

Nicole:
In the tree nursery it was time to get the trees ready for selling. Getting them ready is a whole process which includes different steps. First, we had to dig up the different trees like Alder, Willow, Oak, Beech and Rowan out of their beds. The second step is the grading, where we had to sort out the trees with regards to their height. Afterwards you bundle them up in order to count them and note the amount down. The bundles go into trenches which we dug before.
Besides the preparation of the trees, we helped making bonfires to burn rotten wood. This month all the volunteers had the chance to participate in a special course. There we learned how to carry heavy material in a safe way without injuring oneself.
Not only the time passed in a exiting way. I travelled to Portrush and to Portsteward where I could enjoy the nice beach. Moreover I had great fun in Galway where we went for a weekend. I visited the Cliffs of Moher and different castles which were very impressive.
A special event from the Irish dance club has been the Irish dance set night in the Titanic Bar. There, beginners and experts of the dance come together for dancing.
