July in the nursery continues with weeding and watering. Some of the trees that had been transplanted into plugs are now being planted outside.
Nicole, our German EVS has been here for a month and is staring to put her feet onto the ground. Here are some of her first impressions:
“The firs month in TCV has been like an adventure for me. Everything and every person were new to me and I have been quite curious to experience more and learn more. Our tasks have been different: We have potted little trees into bigger pots, I learned different techniques of weeding and we have been digging lines with a spade. Additionally, I have already seen another area from where the tree nursery operates called “Crawfordsburn” were we have collected some seeds.
In the picture one can see a section of our achievement. The fruits are from a tree called Birch cherry.”

Dulce is now in her sixth’s months and has started to become interested in the local wildlife.
“The tree nursery is full of wildlife along with this beautiful butterfly, we can find all kind of insects and birds, during the last moths we add swallows nesting in our sheds, that they do every year coming from Africa, now the new birds are ready to go back until next year.”
This was Beatriz and Vanessa’s penultimate month. As always they have enjoyed themselves tremendously no matter what task they were given.

Beatriz:
“I´m planting Rowan trees. In the picture is also another volunteer because we often work together. I´m very happy planting because I really like planting.”
