It started with a drive from Stirling to Ardvorlich. Once there, we wasted no time getting kitted up in our water proofs and walking boots. With our rucksacks on our backs and carrying our shovels we headed up the farm track to get to the start of the paths and trails.
The walk would take us about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the part we were wanting to survey.
Once there we got out our clip boards and started to note down the state of the path. Using the Red survey we used the specification survey sheet to jot down our findings. Then we went back over the path noting down the work that that needed to be done to repair the path.
As you can see above the water running down the path has eroded it pretty bad.
We then went onto do a bit maintenance as we did bring our shovels, and sang Hi…ho.. Hi…. Ho
It’s off to work we go! Using our shovels we cleared the mud and debris off the water bars, to allow the water to run off the path.
This was tiring work and the weather was typically Scottish! We all stopped for some lunch and a well earned break. A great day and the scenery was awesome! No wonder they call it Bonny Scotland.
A big thank you to Lawrence Bellini for taking us there and teaching us about path surveying and how to maintain them!
