Last week the Edinburgh Mid week volunteers braved the bad weather to complete two days of work in the Wildlife garden at Royal High primary school. The transformation at the end of the two days was remarkable, when the team arrived the area had become so over grown that the children hadn’t been allowed to venture into it. But after much path clearing, crown lifting and litter picking the garden was accessible once again. The group also added a couple of new features of their
own, cutting a rounded tunnel through some thorn bushes and also creating a two “dead hedges” using cut branches. These not only created some nice defined area’s for the children to hide and play in but also blocked out the unsightly metal fence surrounding the garden. All in all a very productive two days work which I’m sure will be appreciated by the kids when they start the new school year!
