14 February 2012 – River Peffery
The Midweek group had a wee change this week – no rhododendrons! Well, at least for the Tuesday, back to them on Thursday and Friday. We met up with Simon and Meryl from the Cromarty Firth Fisheries Trust down at the Marie Curie Garden, opposite Dingwall Academy, to help them cut down some willow for this upcoming Saturday’s tree planting event that is in association with The Greenhouse, Dingwall.
The excitement of the day was eagle eyed Meryl spotting some otter tracks and poo along the edge of the Peffery! There were 3 distinct footprints, and after a wee prod Meryl assured us that the poo was otter. It’s great to know that some are nearby, maybe one day we’ll get to see it!
Otherwise the we all got stuck in cutting down a hefty amount of willow for the tree planting session.

Once a fair amount of willow had been cut down some of us started doing some litter picks. It’s amazing the amount of rubbish you find once you start looking! Anyhow, back to the rhodies on Friday for the Midweek Group!
