Hi all,
You may remember me waxing lyrical last week about the joys of conservation working in the sunshine. Well, this week we showed what we are really made of!
I want to send a huge thank you to the intrepid BTCV Aberdeen crew who braved the incessant rain and finish the steps at Fowlsheugh RSPB reserve (I would add some of the many photos I took, but all of them are blurred by the rain) -TOP JOB Stuart, Mhairi, Sarah, David, Liz, Graham and a big welcome to our new Project Scotland Volunteer Candice.
Now, I was prepared for cold and rain (I am Irish after all). However, THAT amount of rain was quite a challenge – despite waterproofs, we were wet right down to our Bridget Jones undies (even the boys). Despite worsening conditions, we fought the urge to take refuge in the BTCV Ark (the Landrover) and continued until we had finished the last four steps at the reserve.
Those reading this may think, “I don’t much fancy that” – but truthfully, I have to say that finishing the task in such challenging conditions gave me a huge sense of satisfaction, and I for one, will be telling anyone who will listen when we visit the reserve “We did that!”.
N.B No volunteers were harmed in the making of this project, and health and safety was adhered to throughout 😉
Have a good week,
Rose
