Breaking The Ice

February 7, 2009 by TCV Stirling

From Bo’ness Path + Fence 29.01.09 – 02.02.09

Monday February 2nd – 6,000,000 people take the day off and we’re beside the sea building a fence. But freezing winds and horizontal snow couldn’t stop us. It was Bo’ness and we were putting in a new path and fence in order to discourage people from using the old path which was eroding into the beach.

Then on Wednesday we were at Flanders Moss again with Scottish Natural Heritage. Its always nice to be back there, this time we were deconstructing an old fence of quite a considerable length which had become a bit rotten. We made good progress and got the whole thing down with time to spare, the cold that day actually helped as it made the terrain, which is a bog, more solid and easier to walk on, although as usual it didn’t stop me falling into a ditch and getting my legs soaked in time for lunch.

From Flanders Moss 04.02.09

On Thursday me and Carina went to Kings park to start putting the coping stones on our wall there while the rest of the group were meant to go to Auchterarder golf club to clear out a pond with our brand new sets of waders. However, when they got there the pond was so frozen over that it made it impossible to actually get in to or pull anything out of, so they came back to Stirling and helped out at Kings park and Kath will have to try at Auchterarder again next week.
