I am having an amazing time as the Natural Networks Trainee here in The National Forest. Blogging is an alien concept to me so please be patient as I battle through my first blog. Into week three now and I have learnt so much, I have been tree planting, felling, thinning and coppicing. The three counties of The National Forest are Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire, the forest covers an area of 200 square miles so you can expect lots of trees! Over 20 years ago there was a vision to transform and regenerate this area, to date around 9 million trees have now been planted. I had a great time helping school groups to plant the most recent of these trees. Now for a couple of my favourite photos from the last couple of weeks, the first drying the kids gloves after tree planting and the second at The National Forest TCV office last week.
