Very school focussed this week! At last the sun is shining and things are warming up in every sense of the word!
On Tuesday, I met St. John Paul II school for a morning of weeding raised beds, a garden tidy up and sowing wildflower seeds. It was great to see the children starting to realise the vision they had planned for the garden in previous weeks. On the same day, I met a new school and got the children out into their allotment garden for some more bed preparation, and introduction to garden tool usage.
Wednesday brought me a day at Knocknagoney primary school, working with 3 classes of school children. We are creating an eco-garden mostly using recycled materials – giving the school extra credential toward gaining their Green Flag Award. The jobs included painting bird boxes, planting a hedge, putting the finishing touches to their pond and creating a tree ring footpath through the garden. It’s really beginning to take shape!
Tomorrow I’m heading over to Holy Trinity School where we are ready to plant up the raised beds with this years veggies – lets hope for more of this fine weather…
