It’s been a fantastic summer so far with plenty of successful events and outdoor sessions. I am enjoying every minute of it and I can´t believe that July is almost over!
Since my last blog I´ve enjoyed three great sessions with LINKES’ children in Glasgow. Julie Grant (Education Development Officer) participated in one of the sessions in which the children learnt about the beasties they have in their local park and played a wide range of nature games.
Anthony Morrow (Natural Communities Co-ordinator) and I also spent a day with them at Mugdock Country Park (Glasgow). The tree trail was one of the most exciting parts of the day: all the teams did an excellent job and found most of the species! We also had some time in the afternoon for pond dipping and arts& crafts.
A couple of weeks ago I spent the Saturday with the Stirling Multicultural Partnership in Culross. We had a walk along the coast where we spotted a group of juvenile Eiders, black-headed gulls and a buzzard hovering over the mountains. Throughout the day, we had the time to identify some of the wildflowers and other plants of the area. We also saw plenty of bumblebees, butterflies and moths.
After the walk, we all enjoyed a well-deserved lunch in the shade with someone´s Spanish omelette going down a treat!
There are still plenty of events to come this summer. This weekend TCV will attend Pollok Family Day at Pollok Country Park (Glasgow). Why don’t you come along and look for our stall? You´re guaranteed to have a fun day out!
