We’ve had a beautifully dry winter up here in the north west, but just as we though summer was on it’s way, the rain is back with a vengeance. Just in time for the summer’s events programme to begin!
Despite the weather, I can’t forget what a beautiful place I’m working in. Yesterday I was working with National Trust Scotland (NTS), with Loch Torridon and Beinn Damph as a backdrop. I was look at their rhododendron plant swap programme. NTS are removing invasive Rhododendron ponticum from gardens neighbouring NTS properties, and replacing them with non-invasive alternatives. The schemes had good uptake, and will dramatically reduce the amount of seed spreading onto the hillside. Potentially a model for a scheme that could be rolled out on a larger scale!
Sunday 21st April is John Muir Day, and we’ll be celebrating the John Muir spirit by having our own adventure into the Beinn Eighe mountain range. I think we might be needing our waterproofs!
