So in case anyone wasn’t aware I’ve had my contract extended with BTCV and East Lothian Council, which means that I’ll be staying on for an extra year, yaaaaaaaaay! This is great for me as I’ll be able to finish some of the projects that I’ve been working on for the past year, and it also means I’ll still be able to work with the amazing Landscape and Countryside Team in East Lothian.
The past year has involved so much stuff! I’ve been on a total of 25 training courses, ranging from ID courses to Community Engagement. I’ve also been involved with loads of projects, including mentoring Future Job Fund employees and working with local schools and community groups.
This year I have a lot of stuff to do, I have 2 community groups to establish, a new Natural Communities Trainee to mentor and a possible Local Nature Reserve Designation to finish off.
This past year with BTCV under the Natural Communities Training scheme has been amazing for me; it’s given me skills that I would have found difficult to have obtained from anywhere else. I now feel that I have the skills required to work with community groups and the environment. The great thing about this post though, is the diversity of it, which ensures that there’s always something different to do. I’ve had an amazing year and met some really cool people, who I’ll be sorry to see go. But hopefully we’ll keep in touch anyway 🙂
