You can grow lots of the leaves for a side salad on a windowsill and it works out cheaper than buying them. Under shelter (windowsill, greenhouse, cloche, plastic box) you can grow leaves all year round. It also reduces food miles and you know that no chemicals have been used to grow them.
Why not try nasturtium, corn flower, calendula flower, lollo rosso lettuce, sorrel, spinach, spring onion, radish, rocket, mizuna, and mustard leaf?
