Fence construction in Carlton

July 12, 2012 by Katherine

The Weekday Conservation Team was recently tasked with fence construction at a playing field in the village of Carlton, Bedfordshire.

Above: A before photograph of the hedge that will be protected by the fence (once it’s put in). In the winter, we will be back to plant trees in the gaps of the hedge and lay it.

Above: A before photograph of the entrance to the playing field (after taking out the old structure that was there).
Above: John (left!) & John (right!). Having reset the gateposts, the team started constructing the post & rail fencing alongside the barn.

Above: This fence was constructed using half round posts & rails.

Above: The ‘chicane’ formalises the entrance to the playing field. The half round fencing joins up with it on either side.
