Hello everyone and welcome to our regular monthly updates from us here at the Tree Life Centre, just outside of Bristol. With the summer seeming to be advancing at a cracking pace we have been up to the usual weeding and watering that I mention every blog this time of year so won’t bore you with the details again! For that reason this month’s update may be a little shorter than usual but let me tell you what else we’ve been doing in July…
The month started off by welcoming the final of four work groups from RBS, read what the previous groups got up to in previous blogs. This time the group made the bandstand area safer for the public by creating a ramp for easy access and putting rails around the sides. The area now looks great and is far more useable that just the occasional event, the only dilemma we face is to what to actually use the space for now! A huge thank you to everyone who came from RBS and worked ever so hard across the Centre, we hope you enjoyed your days and that we will see you again soon to see how we are putting everything to use.
With the school summer holidays upon us we have been working hard to make the site look as good as we can as regular readers will know we have opened up nearly all the Centre for the public to walk around and see all of our hard work.. However, this obviously brings with it more maintenance work but I think the guys are enjoying sharing their work more than hiding away!
We have really stepped up our wildflower seed sowing as we have recently started planning, in partnership with South Gloucestershire Council, a few community wildflower planting sessions around the Kingswood area. There are also plenty of wildflower packs we have on sale, which contain a mix of bee and butterfly friendly flowers, so why not pop by and see what we have, alongside native trees in pots, fruit trees, herbs and strawberry plants.
Finally, our Tuesday group have been really enjoying looking after their veg they have been growing from seed. They are finally getting to watch the produce get bigger and started harvesting, although next month looks like being a bumper crop already!
