Hello one and all and welcome to a brief update about our goings on from the month’s goings on at the Tree Life Centre! Due to being away for a period of the month I’ve not taken any pictures (sorry!) so the blog will look a little bare, also for the same reason its a little bit shorter as I can’t elaborate as much as I would like to about what we’ve been getting up to!
Anyway, here goes…the guys have spent the majority of the month continuing on with the site’s redevelopment. The area around the new path was continued to be improved with the ground made ready for further planting, this included sowing much wild grass seed which we intended to take over and give the area a wild and natural a feel as possible. Also, part of the new look this month includes more apple trees planted around the meadow area and a new hedgerow plated along the fence to help proved further shelter as that area is the most exposed from the northerly winds. Elsewhere, the new green woodworking hut has had its roof finally fixed on with the last strut and the tarpaulin fixed on. With a new pathway now made up to the area all that’s needed is to finish off the flooring which will hopefully be done in March, ready for use during events.
As the bare rooted planting season is coming/has come to an end we have had our work cut out dealing with last minute orders and arranging the site ready for the upcoming warmer months. However, going into March we still have a full sandpit of trees still needing to be sorted out and various other tasks so our priority for the beginning of March will be them. If you do still want any native trees will have a variety in pots that will be ready to plant so why not pop by and see what we have!
As part of our future planning in March we are starting to hold a variety of events which you can find out about on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Also, we are starting to work out our spring/summer plans with regards to what we have for sell so keep your eyes peeled there for further announcements!
