Hello one and all and welcome to the final blog of the summer! This year has been cracking on at a fair pace, it’s back to school time and soon the leaves will be falling and we will be into bare-rooted tree season! Anyway, lets not wish the rest of the year away too soon and update you all on the goings on here at the Tree Life Centre, just outside of Bristol.
Well…where to start! Despite it being really busy there isn’t much ‘news’ to report, after all there is only so many times you can mention weeding, watering and grass cutting! As you can guess there has been plenty of that this past month, making sure everyone has got stuck in at some point or another to share out the load. Also, everyone has been rushed off their feet due to the volume of visitors we have had look round the centre, especially when its been sunny. Thank you to everyone who visited, bought things and all the general kind words. We hope to see you all again soon.
Elsewhere, all the volunteers have been busy preparing for our up-coming changes across the site, due to the funding we have been awarded (see our Facebook page for more information). This includes repairing all the paths across the site to improve visitor access, building a smokers cabin so that the smokers among us have a place away from the public that’s sheltered to smoke, nearly completing the PPE area and sorting out the wildflower area in the public area ready for a potential move in our redesign. During the month we had a meeting where all the volunteers were invited along to have their say on the potential plans, and an idea book for thoughts, and now all the views have now been taken into account and the plans have been drawn up. It’s a very exciting time for the Tree Life Centre so if you want to see what’s planned or get involved them come along or get in contact.
Parish Notices:-
We are closed to volunteers for two weeks starting Monday 8th September due to the redevelopment. This is so we can get quotes and things for potential work and see what parts of the plans are viable and those that may need to be redone. Sheila will still be contactable if you are interested in joining our merry band or wish to order trees/plants. We will be back open as normal on Monday 22nd September at 10 am. See you then!
Don’t forget you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more up to date news and pictures.
