Welcome to the next instalment of the goings on at the Tree Life Centre. You join us at a very quiet time at the Centre as we are now on the first week of our 5 week period of being closed for volunteers. This is due to our Project Officer Ben taking extended leave to complete his RHS exams and then a well deserved break afterwards, so all of us wish him luck with the exams! A few of our hardy souls are keeping an eye on the place in their own time whilst the Centre’s shut and making sure things stay alive with watering duties. Anyway, we are back open again Monday 1st July, if you have an queries then please do contact and I will try my best to help answer them.
However…onto the activities prior to shutting!
As you can imagine we were working flat out to leave our ongoing projects in a state where they can be left for such a long time. This included getting the new cabin finally put up and an outdoor kitchen frame completed…
The herb garden is now in place and ready for plenty of herbs to be grown and planted in there…
Finally, as mentioned in our April blog one of our (very talented) volunteers has been working on a top-secret project which we launched on our Facebook page this month. They have created two videos to help promote the Tree Life Centre by giving an insight and overview of our goings on and showing off all our colours this time of year.
There was however some disappointing news recently as we were vandalised again over one weekend that saw our greenhouse being wrecked, the plastic windows were kicked and bent so they had to be taken out and left to one side…
Whilst we are shut but you would still like to volunteer in the Bristol area for TCV don’t forget other groups are out and about doing projects, find out more about these groups on our regional webpage.
Parish notices:-
Despite being closed throughout June we will be open on Sunday 9th June as part of Open Farm Sunday as the community farm we are based on, Grimsbury Farm, is taking part, with many fun activities. So come on down and take a look round, maybe buy some plants/trees too! More information about the event can be found here.
Don’t forget we are on Facebook and Twitter so please do like/follow away for more up-to-date news!
