Our ever enthusiastic Stirling mid week volunteers have been helping tackle the invasive species; Rhododendron ponticum, at Muiravonside Country Park
These plants are similar to the Rhododendrons we all love in our garden except these particular plants are very invasive.
They completely take over entire countrysides and hillsides, stopping native flowers and plants from growing.
Muiravonside Countryside Park have almost tackled their invasive species problem through years of hard work, our group helped remove any plants that were growing back and then we burned them to kill the plant.
This was actually a really fun task, with the lamas of the Parks farm keeping an eye on us, we managed to tackle a large area of Rhododendrons. We had four fantastic volunteers for this task who all enjoyed the fire we made!!
