For these two days we were back at Craigmillar Castle Park continuing our work on the path network and in the woodlands. We spent the majority of the first day scraping back vegetation that had grown over the path reducing it’s width. This was long and tiring work but we got our heads down, paced our self’s and ended up doing a HUGE amount of work, a tough day but rewarding.
The next day we finished off the path scraping, this didn’t take too long after the previous days heroics. We then moved in to the woods to begin crown lifting the trees to open up the woodland. This allows more light to reach the forest floor which will help the low lying vegetation develop and increase biodiversity. It will also open up the woodland so hopefully it will look more inviting from the path and get people exploring the woodland which was previously impenetrable.
