Today we were at Craigmillar Castle Park we were all about access! We were doing some work on and around the paths and doing some work in the woodland.
The woodland at Criagmillar had become thick with low growing branches and vegetation, this acted as a barrier to people entering the trees from the path. We worked our way through the woodland crown lifting the trees to head height (removing all the branches below head height) this opened up the woodland from the path making it much more inviting and accessible, By crown lifting the trees there is also much more light reaching the forest floor which will allow shrubs, bushes and grasses to grow around the trees.
While we were at Craigmillar we also did some path scraping, to show the path boundaries, and cleared some drainage channels.
