TCV volunteering can take us to some pretty unusual places! None more so than Paisley Moss where the Glasgow Mid-Week Group got down to some more path clearance on Monday 4th August.
Paisley Moss is a nature reserve situated between the main runway at Glasgow Airport and the M8 motorway – not the sort of location you would expect to find a haven for plants and wildlife.
Somehow, the constant noise of planes taking off and the traffic on the motorway faded into the background and the group got down to some serious path clearance.
We cut back a lot of the overhanging vegetation along the edges of the grassy path leading down to the reserve as well as along the wooden boardwalk that crosses the reserve itself. Some of the group also thinned out areas thick with saplings and smaller trees to help encourage the growth of more ground vegetation.

A bit of advice if you decide to visit on a warm summer’s day though: take some insect repellant! I managed to count at least 20 bites on my arms and neck the next day!!
