This should be the last blog from this project as the work on the garden is now complete! We had a few sessions back at the nursery in March to get the clear tarpaulins hung in the outdoor classroom, it’s hoped this will help protect the children from the worst of the weather if they’ve ventured outside in windy or rainy conditions. We also dug out all the turf in the storytelling area and laid some rubber chips as a substrate, this will help keep the weeds down and also provide a lovely bouncy clean surface for the kids.
We also dug out a path to the storytelling area so mud wouldn’t be transferred, the kids get to choose between the path or the stepping stones. There should be a ‘grand garden opening’ early summertime so we’re looking forward to heading back there to see how much the kids are enjoying their new outdoor space.
