Today’s mission was quite a fun one. We were down by (*)
doing a few general conserving tasks e.g. Sweeping a big flight of stairs, topping up with Wind dust and making sure the pathway is and clear accessible.
Not only that but also we created a nice new set of steps continuing along the path. The old steps was horrid and completely waterlogged and in dire need of replacing.
We made a start by taking up all the old waterlogged sleepers, bearing in mind we were trying to replace the current sleepers at the same level of gradient as before. Once we were satisfied with each sleeper we then pegged and got them secured on the outside.
Once we were making a good start on the outside frame of the stairs a second group caught up by making measurements for the actual steps these were also made out of sleepers and cut to size with a very nice looking chainsaw and cut by the trusty ranger Dave Kyles.
Giving it all a good wiggle and a nudge we were happy enough to start back pegging it all together and topping it all off with wind dust .
We finished on time and were blessed with the sun all day.
Both sets of stairs we looking amazing and we managed to get a few good group photo’s
