Thursday the 19th saw the mid-week volunteers at Burdiehouse Burn Valley Park. One of Edinburgh’s Rangers was on hand to lead the group through this very wet and windy day!
A series of odd jobs and tasks was the plan for the day. The first task involved planting in a new litter bin using cement to ensure it stayed in place. Spirits stayed high despite the wet weather! Drainage ditches were then dug along the side of a regularly used footpath to ensure it didn’t flood in the months leading up to Winter. Finally a park bench was re-positioned in an area of the park after it was pushed over sometime in the last couple of weeks. This meant even more cement to ensure that it didn’t happen again!
The afternoon was then spent raking out a meadow to clear it of cut grass and plants. This was a very large and unforgiving task and unfortunately couldn’t get completed by the end of the day. However, everyone was still enjoying themselves by this point as the sun had finally come out!
