On the 13th May 2013 six trainees started the coastal community programme.
Coastal Communities is a lottery funded year of work and training in partnership with Conservation Volunteers, East Lothian Council and Mobex East Lothian.
The work we’ve been doing with the Conservation Volunteers includes working on the John Muir Way, being trained to use the tools properly, working as a team, improving our planning skills and increasing our attention to detail. Since we’ve started with the Conservation Volunteers the tasks we have done include repaired a bridge, path maintenance, using/creating tools, tree felling and safety/creating fires.
Since the begging of starting the coastal community programme we have learnt to become more aware of other peoples safety as well as our own, we have learnt about dynamic risk assessing, learnt a lot of new skills, tool maintenance and learnt to work well as a team.
