Take a look at how our sensory pathway is coming along! So far our mid week group have spent three days on site at Oaklands constructing it for the school. The aim is to include different and exciting features to stimulate the senses and provide something fun for the kids. We started by digging the 30m curving walkway and creating a mound at the side of the carpark using the extra soil which will be turfed later. We levelled off the path and put down gravel, tidied up the willow tunnel and constructed some wooden raised beds. We also had a great work-out ripping up the turf to make flower beds which later will be a home for plants supporting a range of smells such as mint and lemon balm. We plan to use a variety of materials for example bamboo sticks which rustle in the wind to incorporate sound. What a great wee project- keep an eye out on our progress… or an ear or a nose…..!
