The Edinburgh Mid Week Volunteers were hard at work again at the Vat Run today. Small flurrys of snow did little to dampen the enthusiasm as they worked away on the new wetland habitats that they have been creating over the winter. The new ponds are beginning to blend in with the help of some willing volunteers, hard graft, and a couple of mattocks. The old ponds have been given a new lease of life with a good clean out and some much needed light provided by some selective felling. The dead hedging marches on swallowing up all the prunings and providing a new habitat itself. Another great day in South Queensferry with future plotting and plans to reclaim some meadowland and possibly construct some benches to offer a place to rest while admiring the view of the Forth.
