In Inverness we enjoyed glorious warm sunshine and spectacular views while planting the rest of our willow. We planted 1,200 whips and finished the section of the River Peffery which we were working on. This high section of the river is incrediably sinuous, and the quickest way to walk it means we kept having to jump accross it. Lynn definatley won the award for the most times falling over near the bank into random holes which only she managed to find! Otherwise a very successfull and productive day – Yay!
We also enjoyed carrying out this part of the River’s first ever kick sample for invertibrates. Natalie, our TCV apprentice who works with Cromarty Firth Fisheries Trust led a fantastic session where we found lots of wriggling stonefly, and my favourites: cased caddisfly larvae.
Thanks to everyone involved, now just one more willow day to go! Elspeth
