Parklea Branching Out in Port Glasgow have been involved in sprucing up a new housing development in Port Glasgow in partnership with River Clyde Homes. The area they tackled today was the entrance to a pathway leading down steps and through the houses, to try and make it a little more appealing for people to want to take the street lit short cut through some woodland instead of going the long way along the road. Not only did the gang get stuck in and clear the edges of the path, they also planted 100’s of crocus bulbs in the grassy area leading up to the path so it will look a little more aesthetically pleasing come spring. The edges of the path were overgrown by a good 10-12 inches so the first task was to clear all that back. Leaves were raked up from the path and grass as well. The gang were very pleased with themselves and so they should be – the difference was obvious – amazing! Once we’d finished the edges and clearing the path, it was down to some serious bulb planting. We worked in a team with some digging ‘trapdoors’ while others filled them with bulbs and flipped them over and heeling them in – there was method in our madness! They were keen to get all the bulbs planted that they worked a little into their lunch hour – dedication or what?! A big thank you and well done to all who edged, cleared, trapdoored and planted…
