Thursday 10th August was a rare sunny day this summer, and we were lucky to be spending it up on the Cathkin Braes to the south of Glasgow. Blue skies and stunning views out over the city towards the Highlands, and a variety of woodlands and grassland make this a favourite site (for me, anyway).
We spent the morning uprooting a veritable jungle of Himalayan Balsam (yes, that again) in the woodland, and the afternoon pulling up yet more Balsam from a site which is being returned to native grassland after being swamped with bracken and broom bushes. Chris and Frank also made a concerted assault on said broom bushes, generating an astonishing amount of trimmings for the rest of us to clear away.
