Welcome to the latest installment in the saga of TCV Edinburgh, were somewhat unusually we’ve actually had some sun for a change…
Tuesday
On Tuesday, the group headed off to Stanwell Nursery in Leith to build some more raised beds. In an unusual turn of events, and despite the absence of VO Victoria, they actually managed to get in and build the beds in one day, even managing to finish early.
Wednesday
Todays job was to head back to the WHALE centre to finish installing the decking, having run out of planks the last time we were here. Unfortunately, we made the mistake of leaving the biscuits unattended inside the centre, where many of them were snaffled by a local youth group.
It started off as quite an easy job, with the group splitting into two teams, starting at either end, carrying on as we had done before on this job, with people sporadically breaking off to cut some of the grass back on the bank behind the centre. The sight of Alan with his tape measure, however, wondering just how the remaining space left to be planked had managed to be 15cm wider at one end than the other, meant that some careful thought had to be given to the spacing on the remainder of the decking that went down. With Victoria back to crack the whip, this was soon managed, and for the second day running, we actually to finish early. The completed decking looked rather good as well.
