Hello, and welcome to another exciting day in the life of TCV Edinburgh! In this case, the day in question is Wednesday- I’m sure Tuesday and Thursday were equally fun, interesting and worthy of a blog post, I just don’t know what happened on them. Unfortunately, there are no pictures with this blog as I forgot the camera.
Today, the Wondrous Wednesday Workers were once again headed back to the Hermitage. Today’s tasks were to finish the gates that were started last week and to lay whin dust onto the path and the steps going up the side of the walled terraces.
The morning was spent with Dave, Alan and Derek playing around with the gates, whilst the rest of us did all the real hard work. The whin dust was all nicely piled in a lovely bin in the carpark where we parked the van. Rather inconsiderately however, this was not were the path was. This meant that a slightly backbreaking morning was spent barrowing the bloomin’ stuff around to where it was required, where it was smoothed and patted down with rakes. Once the path was done, we broke for lunch, which rather unusually, we actually managed to spend outside.
After lunch, we decided to whin dust the steps, as the surface on them was slightly topographical. Unfortunately, unlike Daleks, our wheelbarrows have not been able to evolve the ability to levitate up steps, so we had to carry the whin dust up them in buckets. This. Was. Very. Hard. Work. The next time we have to do anything like this, I shall be suggesting an airdrop as the best way forward. On the plus side, the steps do look quite a lot better than when we started, so at least it wasn’t a completely wasted effort
So that was about it for Wednesday. Join us next time for the continued adventures of TCV Edinburgh!
