….made it possible for the Glasgow Midweek Group to build a nice, solid stage with proper square angles, that’s what! Thanks to an excellent practical demonstration of Pythagoras’s theorem from our woodworking wizard (why didn’t they teach it like that in school!) we built the stage as part of a project at the Jimmy Dunnachie Family Learning Centre in Arden.
The rest of the project was to build an outdoor classroom, assault course and bug hotel for the nursery section of the centre, using rustic logs, tractor tyres and lots of postcrete. This was a really nice, fun project to work on, we all learnt useful joinery tips and the lovely school staff supplied cakes and chocolate biscuits every day – what more could hungry volunteers ask for!
