Tuesday
The team made an exciting and fun filled trip down to Borders General Hospital, to start a new project. Some vegetation was cleared and a good job was done. Unfortunately no-one who was there that day is here to tell us much more about it.
Wednesday
Another day at sunny Berwick Law, and the end is in sight for the path project. Some of the turfs laid to landscape the edges have not taken, so were replaced. We also laid some whin dust on the surface to create a pleasant walking experience. Again, this was another day of mystery for us due to the distinct lack of VOs in the office today.
Thursday
Berwick Law again, and this time we know what was happening. And that was turf laying. Mostly. The last edges of the path had fresh new turf laid down and Jordan showed exceptional skill in taking it up in large rolls, easily transplanted to where it was most required. A spot of whin dust packing was done to finish off a few bare patches on the path, while a few of us headed off down the John Muir Way armed with litter pickers and a strong desire to clean up. The afternoon then saw a massive effort by everyone to start moving the left over type 1 material back down to the gate where the Rangers have a plan for it. All hands on deck as everyone took their fair share of shovelling, wheelbarrowing and rock carriering to move a fair chunk of it. Great effort on everyone’s part.
