Tuesday
Back on the Law today to continue with our spectacular path. The revetment was the challenge of the day. Which was a tiny big jigsaw challange extravaganza, which managed to keep us occupied for the entire day! To begin with we had to dig out a huge trench so that our rather large stones would slide in and fit perfectly and under the close watchful eye of the archaeologist we found a cow tooth! The bets are still on the find the ancient saxon tresure trove! The sun came out to suprise us and we became a lot happier and had a swing to our step. Eventually though we managed to put the stones in line to Anna’s standards yeay!!!!! Then it was time for a biscuit and the long treck back to the burgh.
Wednesday
Berwick Law was the destination again on Wednesday, but with all the stonework complete and in place it was a day of graveling and landscaping. Random holes now dot the landscape of the nearby quarry, where the team borrowed grass turfs to cover their handywork on the path. With a few stakes to pin them in place the work was almost complete. We even had time for a leisurly walk to the top to admire the (fake) whale bone sculpture.
Thursday
Back to school! Or nursary in this case. Bathgate Nursary had need of some new willow structures to replace their exisiting ones which were looking a bit ragged. So out they came and after a surprising amount of digging to prep the ground we began to craft some new fences and a dome. After a shakey start working out how to do it we soon got into the swing of things and some extremely robust structures were in place by the end of the day. A pleasant day in the sunshine was had by all.
