The boys (and girls) in green of Fife BTCV, came together under yet another gray day at Lynebank Hospital. The weather was not however going to play any effect on this hardened elite conservation crew. Douglas flexed his muscles and Steven sharpened spade as the team prepared for a hard days work. Veteran commander David, got the team physically prepared with some hamstring warmers but stepped aside to let second in command Amy take charge of team organising and construction. After a stirring speech the team set about their allocated tasks and jobs at a lightening pace.
Within a few short hours Alex and Linda had decimated the monstrous amounts of weeds that had choked the very soul out of the helpless plants in the inferior planter. All the while, Gary moved heaven and earth to saw through any planks that were in a mile radius of his bench.
Amy allowed the team a two minute breather and swift cup of tea before cracking the whip and demanding more work from the team. By the time 1pm had rolled round the team had knocked up a new planter from the ashes of that battered fence from a week previous. Although dimensionally smaller; the new planter allowed easy access and superior growing potential for any plant. Sturdy enough to tackle any weather Fife can throw at it, this planter will be around for years to come. With one more planter in the pipeline, Lynnebank gardens are sure to be in bloom soon.
A very special “thank you” to all the new volunteer’s that showed up on the day.
