This week the group were delighted to find out the task for the next two days was digging a drainage ditch at a remote location in Lochore Meadows.
The drainage ditch had suffered during the recent storms. It was clogged up and it was inaccessible at parts due to overgrown and fallen trees. Rab took on the task of making the area easily assessable and more eye friendly while Douglas tackled the large fallen trees with a bowsaw.
The rest of us had the extremely muddy task of re-digging the ditch. The drainage was definitely needed as we were working in very boggy conditions. Steven was the first to lose his welly boots in a spectacular fall. His white sock will never be the same again.
After the ditch was ditch shaped again the leftover mud has to be washed down stream to allow the water to flow. This exhausting job was left to Mike, Dave, Amy, Sandy and four spades. As hard going as it was the reward was a spectacular free flowing ditch.
The group now have a pretty god idea of how it feels to be a pig!
