29th November Lynbank Green Gym
In spite of the weather there was a good turn out for the green gym. Today we worked in a small enclosed garden area where we luckily were sheltered from the wind. There was lots of weeding, planting and tidying to be done. We started by turning the soil in the flower beds and scraping the moss off the paths. We then moved on to planting tulip bulbs and cutting back the over grown bushes.
The persistent drizzle made the work muddy. This was not helped when the weather took a turn for the worse and the team had to run for cover. Fortunately this coincided with tea break time. Once the rain lightened up we carried on, however as the afternoon went on the group got suspiciously smaller and smaller. The hardy few that were left finished the planting and tidied up the unrecognisable mud drenched tools and headed back to the van. Despite the weather everyone enjoyed the days work and the garden looked much better. However if it is raining again next week we might just follow Alex’s lead and head for soup and dessert in the canteen.
