So Jupiter Green Gym has not really posted anything much on this blog, mostly as we are busy.
So lets start with Tuesday of last week as we had an important visitor to our Green Gym, the local MSP Angus MacDonald visited us on site at Jupiter Urban Wildlife Centre, in Grangemouth. Where he met all our volunteers and received a tour of the site by our Volunteer Officer. He had nice things to say about the site, and has shown an interest in doing some volunteer work on the site.
“I was delighted to visit the Jupiter Urban Wildlife Centre and the Jupiter Green Gym in Grangemouth earlier this week. It was heartening to see the commitment from all the volunteers, who ensure the grounds are well maintained in this unique facility. This oasis in the centre of an industrial area is a wee gem that must be protected at all cost.
Many thanks to Bryan Deakin and Nancy MacIntyre for the warm welcome and tour of the centre. It was great to meet all the volunteers as well and to see how much they enjoy what the centre can offer them.
This was my first ever visit to the Jupiter Wildlife Centre, however I look forward to many more in the future.”

While the tour was taking place our volunteers did a great job in clearing up leaves from the path, pulling the new Alder out of the wild flower meadow and even tackled a hefty tree stump to clear the white popular invasion on the site.
Our Wednesday group, had fun clearing the rest of the Rhododendron ponticum from Callander Woods, and they enjoyed watching it all being disposed of with a nice fire. We also said farewell to one of our volunteers as this week he has been promoted to Volunteer Officer based full time at Jupiter Urban Wildlife Centre. Congrats and lets hope you enjoy the experience.
