This week saw the last day at Beecraigs.
On Tuesday at South Queensferry we were making a proposed bike trak a good deal more open by taking down and crown lifting trees. A really good day out with lots of trees getting taken out. The results were really good as the central grass area could be clearly seen from the entrance by the end of the day.
Wednesday was our second last day at Beecraigs. As the weather was really windy Chris took the precaution of starting new Rows of trees instead of clearing the conifers away from the Deciduous trees. The fencing team went on with ripping up fence. The trees in the new rows were even more closely packed so to get at them we had to clear a lot of brash out the way first. The wind stopped all felling until lunchtime but after lunch we cut quite a number down with step cuts as the weather came and went.
Thursday was the last day at Beecraigs and we were again pulling up fence and removing trees from the new rows. the work that had been done thereover the past couple of weeks was very impressive with at least 400 trees taken out. Towards the end of the day we had to make sure that the site was tidy and left in a suitable condition as we were not coming back for a while.
