On Tuesday we had the pleasure of sticking more posts into the ground at Easter Craiglockhart nature reserve. After arriving late we quickly got on with the stakes and had 5 out of 6 in by lunchtime. lunch was spent in the sunshine enjoying what was left of the fine weather. after lunch a small group went off to complete the 11 posts that make up the nature trail. There was some conflict about where the post should be placed but it ended up by the bench instead of nearer the edge as it was thought to increase the visual amenity. The rest of the group were path scraping and tidying up the woodland.
Wednesday was at our favourite Beecrages on another cloudy and damp day. At least it wasn’t lashing with rain!! the group was split in half with some Felling trees and the other half removing the fence which had rather large holes in it anyway. Anna lead the fence team while I lead the tree felling team.Lunch time was actually quite nice on the brow of the hill with a gentle breeze. The trees kept falling and towards the end of the day there was a strange sight at the end of one of the rows. No more trees to be felled. A very welcome sight after so many days felling. A whole section of fence got removed by Anna’s team as well.
Thursday was another beautiful day at Beecraigs where we were yet again removing fence and Tree felling. What a surprise! I hope that we can get to the end of the wood tomorrow because I am starting to get tired of the same conifer plantation.
