Well we’ve certainly had fun this week. Firstly was our walk around the Red Route at the Linwood Woodland. Where a little pick was supposed to be happening, but I always smile when there is not much rubbish around as this is always a good sign. Then on Wednesday we visited Windyhill on the outskirts of Johnstone, where we were joined by the local Forrestry Commission Ranger. Derek took great enjoyment in filling our heads with knowledge of the surrounding area and its flora and fauna. Thursday was our health walk with the rangers around the Gleniffer Braes. Thankfully the rain held off for most of the time we were there and this allowed us lots of time to stop along the route and discuss all the plants and creatures to be found amongst them.
But with great sadness my final day has come and what a lovely week it has been, everybody over the past six months has been great and it has been a steep learning curve for myself. But I have enjoyed every minute of it. The wonderful thing about Green Gym is that every day is different. One day we will be doing a litter pick, the next day its something completely different like building a bottle greenhouse, it’s been so much fun and I dont want to have to say goodbye. Not to mention all the places we’ve visited that I wouldn’t have known were there. In the future I will be taking my little boy along to Lamont City Farm to see all the animals. 😀
I must say a thank-you to Julie Wilson and BTCV for giving me this opportunity with the Green Gym as I have noticed a great change in my own attitudes and maybe this position I have held for the past six months will maybe even change the line of work that I look for in the future.
I also must not forget to thank all the wonderful volunteers, who, without them, the Green Gym would not exist. Good luck for the future, each and every one of you, you have been so welcoming.
Thankyou I will miss you all and I hope to see you all again in the very near future, as when I get some spare time I will try and come and join you.
Thanks again
Yours
Leigh 😀
