Today it was a trip to the beach, well Cramond! The weather wasn’t great so there was no need for sun-screen. The plan for today was to clear Japanese Rose from the beach area as well as crown lifting some Sycamore along the promenade.
There was an event on organised by the local authorities, with information on environmental awareness and other fun stuff like face painting and Jess (CEC Ranger), had set up a dogs obedience course with prizes for completion with no mistakes. However it would seem everyone got a goodie-bag as the turn-out had suffered down to the Wwwet weather.
All was going well with clear-up, but weather was starting to really chuck it down so we broke for lunch, which turned out to be slightly extended due to the downpour. Finally the skies cleared and we managed
to get stuck into it again. A great job was done all in all, the view from the promenade was 10 times better and the team of Volunteers had managed to clear 8 bulk bags worth of Japanese Rose, which was being placed out of the way for collection by the council at a later date. And so another day came to an end, and as we left the sun came out “Typical”!
