Today we were at Blackford Pond to continue the work on steps next to Pond. The task at hand today was to complete the first run of steps taking you up the hill, replacing any rotten steps and side supports. We were also replacing the main step area with Type 1 Hardcore, and would therefore be scrapping out a couple of inches of old Type 1 and once replaced we’d be tampering it in to give a firm footing.
The weather wasn’t great, but work commenced at a great pace getting a lot done before we stopped for lunch.
We took refuge under the gazebo and watched the Ducks, Geese…etc feast themselves on the hundreds of tiny Frog/Toads making there dash from the Pond to the Hill to start there life in the undergrowth.
After lunch the Volunteers managed to keep up there pre-lunch pace and got through loads completing the first run up to the junction taking you up the hill. So until next watch this space!
