Progress is rapidly coming on in the Dingwall Community Garden. The site has recently been transformed from a neglected piece of land into a site that looks like it is getting some much needed TLC. Work completed in the past few weeks includes the removal of large amounts of rubbish, tree planting and the ongoing construction of a path through the garden. This week the site was looking colorful with hundreds of blooming daffodils happy to see the back of the winter weather.
Other ongoing work includes the construction of a shelter by Chief Engineer Peter, this is going to be built using items mainly found on site, old logs and pipework etc, the recycling movement is alive and kicking in Dingwall !!
Finally to explain the title of the blog, this week while we were there we noticed a female mallard duck that had been sitting in the middle of where we were working. She had built a well camouflaged nest in the centre of the site; and unnoticed by us had kept perfectly still and quiet as we unintentionally nearly stood on her and hit her with various tools. Luckily we spotted her in time and may have to think about diverting the path around the nest. Watch this space !
