Our recent exploits have seen us continue our work in Smithstone Woods. The past several weeks have seen us expand our tasks in Smithstone; we have moved on from merely building bird and bat boxes and putting them up, though there is still plenty of that happening. We are now clearing a lot of vegetation from the woods, this is mainly takes the form of slashing away at brambles which is satisfying work if you have just been scratched all over by them. When we clear the brambles we are then able to plant different species of native tree(Oak and Birch) in the avalable space. As is predictable in an urban woodland there was quite a bit of rubbish found all everywhere, it seems the locals are fond of continental beers. Nonetheless the volunteers keenly travelled the woods searching for the rubbish and after only a couple of days the place looks much better already
